Madness and Insanity in Shakespeares Hamlet Ham Essay Example For Students

Madness and Insanity in Shakespeares Hamlet Ham Essay lets Antic Disposition Hamlet essaysHamlets Antic Disposition Hamlets antic disposition of pretending to become crazy so that he can take revenge of his fathers death was a bad plan. The situations in the play that prove that Hamlets antic disposition was a bad plan are the death of his friend Ophelia, his fighting with his mother, trying to fool the King and Polonius, his own downfall and finally his death. All this situations illustrate why Hamlets antic disposition was a bad plan. Hamlets antic disposition was the main reason why Ophelia committed suicide and why Hamlet fought with his mother. Hamlet believed that if he showed no more feelings for Ophelia and showed hatred and cruelty for his mother, people and particularly the King and Polonius would believe that he has truly gone crazy. He shows that he has no feelings for Ophelia when he says to her You should not have believed me, for virtue cannot so inoculate our old stock but we shall relish of it. I loved you not (III ,i, 116-118). At the time of Ophelias burial, Hamlet jumps in Ophelias grave saying, I loved Ophelia. For thousand brothers could not with all their quantity of love Make up my sum. What wilt thou do for her?(V ,i, 245-247). This clearly indicates that Hamlet did love Ophelia and was only pretending as per his plan. Similarly, Hamlets antic disposition towards his mother is illustrated by the quotation, Soft, now to my mother. O heart, lose not thy nature; let not ever the soul of Nero enter this form bosom. Let me be cruel, not unnatural; I will speak daggers to her, but use none.(III, IV, 362-366). In both of these situations, Hamlets antic disposition caused him no gain but resulted in a significant loss. Hamlet believed that if the King and Polonius thought that he was truly crazy, he would be able to kill the King without any problem and take revenge of his fathers death. Hamlets efforts were a complete failure as the King did not fall for his trick but become more worried and cautious of Hamlet. As a result the King wanted to send Hamlet away to England in the care of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, as he feared him as per the quotation I like him not, nor stands it safe with us to let his madness range. Therefore prepares you. I your commission will forth with dispatch, and he to England shall along with you (III, iii, 1-4). Polonius also suspected that Hamlet was not crazy but only acting as per the quotation Though this be madness, yet there is method int(II, ii, 203). These situations also clearly indicate that Hamlets antic disposition was not successful, as it did not fool the King nor Polonius, the two people Hamlet wanted to fool and take revenge on. The greatest loss of Hamlets antic disposition was his own downfall and the loss of his own life. Hamlets downfall started when he pondered too much about every possible outcome of every situation that arose. For example, Hamlet did not kill the King when the opportunity arose because Hamlet believed that if he killed the King while he was praying, the King would go to heaven. He felt that this would defeat the whole purpose of seeking revenge which is said by Hamlet in the quotation, Then trip him, that his heels may kick at heaven, And that his soul may be as damned and black As hell, whereto it goes (III, iii, 93-95). .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137 , .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137 .postImageUrl , .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137 , .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137:hover , .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137:visited , .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137:active { border:0!important; } .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137:active , .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137 .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uee3c40d69e9d4ba3d9bbdfd6636d8137:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: China's Growing Economy Essay This lost opportunity for Hamlet, gave time to the King to find out what Hamlet was really up to and make up his own counter plans of eliminating Hamlet. The King eventually came up with a plan with Laertes, who would cause Hamlets death, Ill touch my point With this contagion, that, if I gall him slightly, It may be death. (IV, VII, 144-146). These situations indicate how Hamlets downfall started and resulted in his death. Hamlets antic disposition of pretending to be crazy with intent to kill the King was clearly a bad plan. This is proven by the death of Ophelia who he loved dearly, his fighting with his mother, unsuccessfully trying to fool the King and Polonius, his downfall and the most lethal his own death. These examples show that Hamlets antic disposition was indeed a bad and an ineffective plan. Hamlets antic disposition made him lose control of his own actions and resulted in Hamlet losing everything. Hamlets life ended tragically because of his own tragic flaw, which we all can learn from.

Marketing an Introduction

Question: Evaluate the challenges and benefits faced while completing Innovation and risk management models assignment report on Heinz Company. Answer: The main challenge was to identify the company supporting the assignment criteria, which could help in authenticating the overall outcome of the report. Furthermore, the selection process for an innovative company was essential to fulfil the requirements of the assignment. Moreover, I chose Heinz Company based on its implementation of innovation and inventions in their business process to achieve the required growth. Innovation is concepts or method, which are generally used by companies to improve their productivity and profitability. However, inventions help in developing new machinery, which could be used by companies to reduce their overall expenditure (Ayyub 2014). In addition, I had effectively collected all the financial data of Heinz Company from company website for evaluating the financial performance of the organisation. Furthermore, the main problems occurred when the physical inspection was needed to evaluate the innovative methods used by the organisation in effectively managing their risk exposure (Kern et al. 2012). Furthermore, I effectively evaluated the innovative packaging method that was being used by Heinz Company to reduce the overall cost of production (Heinz.com 2016). In addition, I was able to evaluate different types of innovative methods, which could be used by the Heinz Company to increase their productivity and profitability. Furthermore, the innovative methods like innovative packaging, brand name promotion, after sales services, product pricing, and blending could be effectively used by Heinz Company to increase their profitability. Moreover, theses mentioned innovation models could be effectively used by Heinz Compan y to increase its market presence and create demand for its products. Furthermore, the overall course work mainly required a development of strategy, which could be used by Heinz Company to increase its profitability. In addition, the innovation of new products is effectively suggested by me to increase profitability of the company. In addition, innovating new products could eventually help companies to create demand, which might help in increasing its profitability (Chari et al. 2014). Furthermore, I also researched on the production process currently being used by Heinz Company. In addition, I also effectively surveyed the market and detected the demand for a new profit, which could be developed by Heinz to increase their market exposure. Furthermore, I effectively used different method to implement the strategy proposed by me. Development of effective pathway could eventually help in achieving the required targets proposed in the plan (Berthon et al. 2012). Moreover, with the help of method like idea generation, idea screening, testing concept, business analysis, marketability test, technical implementation, commercialization, and perfect pricing the new product development could be effectively conducted. The implementation of theses method mainly helped in me to evaluate the strengths that could be obtained from perfect pricing and low costing. Furthermore, development of new product has mainly helped me to understand the significance of adopting costing strategies and brand promotion method, which enables companies to increase their overall profitability (Armstrong et al. 2012). Thus, I effectively generated the adequate awareness on different methods, which could be used by the company to increase its brand presence and profitability. Judgment as a Theme in Arthur Millers The Crucible free essay sample

The definition of judgment according to Encarta Encyclopedia, is the formation of an opinion. It is a simple definition, clear and direct. Although, there is more to the word judgment than meets the eye. What about the last word in the definition? What is an opinion? An opinion is described as a belief or conclusion that is held without any substantial proof. That word might not seem to have too much significance at this very moment, but it did back in 1692, in Salem, Massachusetts, during the witch scare. Making a judgment on somebody may seem harmless, but it can be very destructive. The citizens of Salem made judgments on their neighbors, forming opinions that they might be witches. Those solitary judgments led to many peoples deaths, their judgment of witchcraft were wrong. Arthur Miller gives people some insight into the Salem witch trials in his play, The Crucible, which shows how the peoples poor judgment led to hysteria and tragedy in the community of Salem. We will write a custom essay sample on Judgment as a Theme in Arthur Millers The Crucible or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page It also shows how the people changed because of this witch scare that ran furiously through the town. Take for example John Proctor, proctor is a good man that is married and has three boys and lives a good life as a citizen of Salem. He does his job as a farmer, father, and Christian, but because he didnt go to church often he was depicted as a minion of the devil. Christianity played a huge role in Salem and if one was not religious they were immediately seen as a bad person. As read in The Crucible, 180, â€Å"such a Christian that will not come to church but once in a month†, shows that Proctor did and does care about religion but he doesnt show it as much by going to church everyday or week. He believes in it so much that he will not let the town priest, Parris, baptize his youngest son even though hes â€Å"ordained by God†(168). Another role that was judged out of pure jealousy was poor innocent Elizabeth Proctor. Elizabeth is a normal mom who has to deal with the pain of the memory that her husband cheated on her with Abigail. Elizabeth doing nothing but her job as a wife and citizen is accused of physically attacking Abigail with her â€Å"witchcraft†, as described in page 172. â€Å"Tis hard proof! I find here a poppet Goody Proctor keeps,† Cheever explained to Proctor that Elizabeth have had to be the one to harm Abigail. Knowing that the doll was not made by her she was still judged as a witch and sent to jail. It seems unfair that Cheevers opinion changed Elizabeths life and may have caused her her life. A simple Barbados girl hoping to be seen as a normal person despise her culture is shot down when an opinion is thought of as a fact. Abigails accusation once again leads another persons life in the gutter never to be proven wrong. â€Å" I always hear her laughing in my sleep. I hear her singing her Barbados songs † Abigail screams as she tries to save her own life by wasting another without a care (156). Tituba is depicted as a witch even though she was nice enough to keep the secret of dancing and the drinking of chicken blood that the girls did to prevent them from dying. Tears and begging do not help Tituba from saving herself from the hands of true evil, judgment. Martha Corey and Rebecca Nurses case is the real showing of what an opinion is. The â€Å"supernatural murder† that occurred to Mrs. Putmans babies is sad yet not proven as a true murder, as told in page 170. Not a scratch or mark was found on them but even so Rebecca was seen as a murderer and also called a witch, and that title of murderer will stay with her until she is dead or it is forgotten. Mrs. Coreys case was also a very unpredictable one, knowing that because reading books can also mean that one is a witch then most citizens in Salem would be considered witches. Reading books is not in the same category as witchcraft and should not be suspicious at all (171). It shows that people in Salem can be judged and treated differently without proof or an explanation for the cause of their accusation. If one makes a statement of the other and if that statement is not proven wrong, you are immediately defined to be whatever that statement describes you as; innocent people are blamed and mistaken as bad people. We go back to the definition of judgment, which is an opinion, and we can say that during the witch trials many people were judged and falsely accused of something they either did not do or were not proven to have the capability of doing so. Judgment can harm a person and it can be destructive in any way possible, do not judge a person unless you know its a FACT.

Lagosuchus - Facts and Figures

Lagosuchus - Facts and Figures Name: Lagosuchus (Greek for rabbit crocodile); pronounced LAY-go-SOO-cuss Habitat: Woodlands of South America Historical Period: Middle Triassic (230 million years ago) Size and Weight: About a foot long and one pound Diet: Meat Distinguishing Characteristics: Tiny size; bipedal posture; long hind legs About Lagosuchus Although it wasnt a true dinosaur, many paleontologists believe Lagosuchus may have been the genus of archosaur from which all dinosaurs subsequently evolved. This tiny reptile certainly had plenty of dinosaur-like characteristics, including long legs, large feet, a flexible tail, and (at least some of the time) a bipedal posture, giving it an uncanny similarity to the first theropods of the middle to late Triassic period. If you doubt that a mighty race of dinosaurs could have evolved from a tiny creature that weighed about a pound, keep in mind that all of todays mammalsincluding whales, hippopotamuses, and elephantscan trace their lineage back to comparably tiny, shrew-like mammals that scurried under the feet of huge dinosaurs a hundred million years ago! (By the way, among paleontologists, the genus Marasuchus is often used interchangeably with Lagosuchus, since its represented by more complete fossil remains.)

Case study - Essay Example 2) If I was the CEO at Coca-Cola, I would respond to concerns about the company by assigning a marketing team to help restore the image of Coca-Cola. This team would focus on presenting a positive side of Coca-Cola to the news media and also follow up any complaints immediately. The emphasis would be to create a friendly image to the public that represents Coca-Cola’s ethics and values. 3) I think that the social work that Coca-Cola is doing is great because many people do not even realize that it is going on. Maybe Coca-Cola needs to focus more on gaining recognition for its charitable works. Their heart is sincere so I don’t think that they are doing it to simply â€Å"look good.† Things like HIV/AIDS really make a connection with the average everyday person because these issues are the types of problems that people continually face. Scholarly paper related to observation and evaluation of Nursing Essay

Scholarly paper related to observation and evaluation of Nursing manager role - Essay Example According to Egner (2009), every institutional leader has the responsibility to solve individual problems through a dynamic utilization of personnel. His duty is to develop and maintain a culture that encourages work. As a result, the leader has to utilize more than only the functions of management. He or she should show concern for production as well as people. In a clinic, organization, planning, controlling, and directing are the main functions of the manager. Quality work is crucial for the patients’ well-being and the medical practitioners have to be experienced and well conversant in their job descriptions. Planning involves the selection of programs, projects, or objectives appropriate for the type of organization. Furthermore, it also involves the procedures and policies for accomplishing them. Lutz (2010), on the other hand, states that planning should always come before the action. This then has to be combined with employee motivation and training so that they realiz e the organization’s target goals, including the mission and vision. The manager also has to overcome resource and political barriers. This goes together with being keen on identifying any deviations from the plan and doing the necessary planning for correcting the problem. Consequently, it is important to note that these management functions are not only for the top manager, but also for all leaders in the clinic. The managing director should however act as the head of all subordinate leaders. Organization of clinical personnel occurs chiefly to achieve maximum coordination. This ensures efficient synchronization of staff, equipment, materials, methods, and timing. The customers in a clinic are mainly patients who have to be directed from one room to another and efficient coordination will always result to customer satisfaction and minimum chaos. Furthermore, Lutz (2010) states that well defined and logical organizations encourage savings in efforts and energy and minimize f rustration. As a management function, organization entails the designation of specific duties to certain personnel and departments. It also defines their functions and specifies the links between personnel and departments. In a clinical setting, diagrams, operating guides, and tables promote coordination of the staff, departments, and customers. However, it is difficult to keep them up to date and they give subtle coordination in fast growing, expanding, and dynamic enterprises. Another major cause of failure is delegation if authority to subordinates. A good delegator gives the ideas of subordinates a chance, allows the staff to make mistakes and learn from them, gives other subordinates the power to make decisions, and formulates an effective transfer of information over subordinates. Behavioral leadership theory focuses on analyzing behaviors or actions that describe a style of leadership. With this aspect, leaders are required to work with a specific category of style that relie s on their methods and actions used to fulfill the goals (Egner, 2009). However, the choice of suitable leadership criteria relies on the values and objectives of the individual making the evaluation, but different individuals have diverse values. Thus, the best approach is to include several criteria when researching on leadership effectiveness. Egner (2009) recommends four criteria for leadership effectiveness. They include individual leader effectiveness, follower job fulfillment,
